I've earned my Certified Career Strategist accreditation with Career Professionals of Canada.

I’m pleased to announce that I’m a Certified Career Strategist!

My path to earning this certification was twisty, as so many career journeys are. After many years spent working in marketing and communications, I reached the seniority level where younger peers sought my advice and perspective.

When I took Growclass in 2019, that outreach intensified in volume and depth.

Reaching out to a senior leader takes guts. I didn’t want to low-ball the trust in those asks by giving half-baked advice in return. And I’d known for a long time that while marketing was my second career that continues to teach me a lot, it’s not my forever choice.

I reached out to peers in the space to ask what to do next.

Early on, Career Professionals of Canada (CPC) emerged as a new partner in this work.

What is a certified career strategist?

Per the CPC website, Certified Career Strategists help clients find career paths, leverage their work experience when searching for a new job, continue their skill development, improve personal branding efforts, and achieve their professional goals.

Ethics, quality, and excellence matter to me when I’m a client. I wanted to offer a comparable standard to my clients, and a framework to help me think through the nuances within a code of professional conduct.

Earning this designation took me roughly three years:

  • I joined CPC in 2022 and took the Career Strategy course that spring.
  • Working privately and with Growclass, I accumulated 1,600 practice hours to hone my skills and abilities.
  • I passed the certification exam and submitted a final assignment.

On January 8, 2026, I achieved my certification!

Why my background in marketing sets me apart

It’s exciting to take the skills I’ve accumulated building campaigns, developing product stories, and launching new companies, and apply them to helping individual people.

That’s included:

I want to thank the Growclass community and the hundreds of marketers who trusted me to help them. In doing so, you helped me to achieve this designation.

What’s the best thing about doing career strategy?

Hands down, it’s the days when I hear from past clients who’ve had a transformational career experience with me. Knowing that I helped make a difference, however small, in that person finding their feet in the middle of a topsy-turvy employment market is incredibly satisfying.

I’m excited to move my practice beyond marketers and work with other professionals who are undergoing the same type of pivot in their career stories.

If you’re curious about what I do or how I can help, I’m more than happy to do a 15-minute call. Reach out to me on LI or send me a direct message through the website (you will have to write a short message to make it past the noise filter).

In the meantime, I’ve got some exciting things planned to showcase my growing body of work in this field. I can’t wait to share them with you!
