What I Value

I’ve spent over 20 years in the technology, research and higher education sectors. Here’s what I need to thrive:

  • Leading creative work that matters. I love working with organizations that accept risk and encourage their teams to learn and experiment.
  • Creative processes that allow for surprise, delight and discovery.
  • Connecting with others. The most rewarding part of being a senior leader is conversations exploring career development, coaching and mentorship.

Biography

Elizabeth Monier-Williams has over 20 years of experience marketing products, companies and ideas within Toronto’s technology and research sectors. She has held senior leadership positions at Think Research, Synaptive Medical, Life Sciences Ontario, and MaRS Innovation, and has mentored over 40 founding teams in best practices for marketing and communications.

Elizabeth is a pioneer in crowdfunding campaigns for research-driven technology. She was co-director of the WaveCheck crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, which raised over $150,000 in platform and follow-on donations to fund an innovative medical imaging technology. WaveCheck was twice named to the Globe and Mail’s Top 10 Canadian crowdfunding campaigns and secured attention from GE Healthcare, which licensed the technology in 2014.

Following WaveCheck, Elizabeth served as strategy lead for the Linkitz campaign on Kickstarter, which raised over $100,000 USD for a wearable technology designed to encourage girls to code. She also acted as an advisor to campaigns led by Whirlscape and Onyx Motion on Indiegogo.

Elizabeth has a demonstrated history of success in building and leading teams that have achieved ambitious targets while delivering transformational work. As an early adopter of networking hubs like Ten Thousand Coffees, she enjoys mentorship, coaching and creative collaboration.

In 2020, Elizabeth led marketing efforts for Covid Trials.ca, which recruited over 4,000 patients to participate in clinical trials across Canada.

Elizabeth holds a Honours Bachelor of Arts (co-op) from the University of Waterloo, where she was the English Department’s candidate for the Gold Medal. She completed a Master of Arts from the University of Guelph and received an Ontario Graduate Scholarship to fund her studies.

She is an alumna of Raw Signal Group and Growclass, and an active member of both communities. In May 2022, she published her first novel under the pen name E. M. Williams.
